Afternoon lovelies, how are you all? Just another quickie technique for you today!
In my younger days, I was a huge fan of nail art and loved to bling up my nails and spent a lot of time playing around creating various looks. I love how more sophisticated grown-up nail art is doing the rounds in blogland - so I thought I would give the two-tone look a go...
...Can you tell what my fave colour combo is at the mo ;) Looks great with the braided bracelets I made a few weeks back!
Here's How:
You Will Need:
2 Co-ordinating Nail Colours (or clashing if you're brave!),
Masking Tape,
Clear Nail Varnish to seal,
A bit of nail varnish remover on a cotton bud or nail remover pen.
FYI - UK Ladies, I used Collection 60 Second Hot Looks in no.43 Fruit Salad and Rimmel London Lasting Finish in no.703 Pear Drop.
* Paint your thumbs and 3 fingers on each hand one colour, then paint your ring fingers on each hand in the contrasting colour, giving 2 coats then leave to dry...
* Leaving the ring finger as it is take strips of masking tape and lay diagonally across each remaining fingers and thumb. Press firmly along edge, so that the other nail varnish won't bleed underneath. Take your contrasting colour and paint the exposed piece of nail...
* Peel off the masking tape slowly...
* Do the same on all fingers / thumb (except ring finger). I ran my tape bottom left to top right on my right hand and then bottom right to top left on my left hand...
* Add a coat of clear nail varnish to seal.
* Take a bit of nail varnish remover on a cotton bud and tidy up around the edges and remove any bits of varnish on your skin.
Then match up your outfit and jewellery and enjoy your two tone nails!
Have fun!
xx
I remember when my hands looked that young...!
ReplyDeleteNow go do the dishes and clean the castle and then show me those gorgeous hands! lololol
Im going to give the bracelet a go that is more do-able for this duck! huge hugs..♥Debi
well that is very fancy, I'm loving the blue and coral! I haven't worn nail polish for since I was 21. kids and work beat that fun out of me :P Although this is so pretty I want to do it.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful and slender your hand is! Your nail art looks lovely - love that colour combo. I remember buying a French manicure set years ago and taping the little white strip as a stencil. I can't remember the last time I wore any though - wrinkly hands and loss of memory - help LOL xx
ReplyDeleteI've just come back to say how fantastic I think your bracelets are. I was looking for a blog post with them in, but couldn't find one xx
ReplyDeleteLove your nails, I am jealous, mine are a odd shape and don't grow nicely so look silly painted :)

fabulous - will have to show this to my girls - they'll love it too xx
ReplyDeleteso jealous - like some of the other followers - my nails are not worth the time spent painting them... gotta wear gloves more often when I vacuum / wash dishes / use hot glue guns / hammer nails into pre-loved furniture / etc etc... hope you trotted those glamours out to a restaurant to make the most of them! x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fab idea! I know a certain little lady of mind that would adore that :-D
ReplyDeleteBig hugs x x
These look so pretty, and I have to giggle a little because I used to do my nails almost identical to yours in this tutorial back in the 80's at the time I was doing an orange and turquoise with the same diagonal stripe!! Yours look so pretty and made me smile and remember when I use to love to do my nails all the time. Maybe I should pamper myself again.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Susie
What a lovely idea. My friend and I keep saying we should pamper ourselves a bit more. I think I might give this a try.
